Privacy Policy of SEMYOU

Data protection is one of the foundations of SEMYOU’s trustworthy data processing. SEMYOU has a long-standing commitment to data protection, an important part of our product and service lifecycle. We work to be transparent about our data protection practices, offer customers meaningful data protection options, and manage the data we store responsibly.

The SEMYOU Privacy Principles and our internal data protection standards serve as guidelines for how we collect, use and protect customer data.

The SEMYOU Cloud Services Privacy Policy explains the specific privacy policies and practices that apply to customers’ use of SEMYOU.

“SEMYOU” means the contractual service and/or the company SEMYOU.

The protection of your personal data is a central concern for SEMYOU.

With this privacy policy, SEMYOU would like to inform you about how SEMYOU processes your data.

This privacy policy applies to all SEMYOU applications (APPS).

 

Storage location of customer data

SEMYOU currently operates a central data center in Europe (Germany). In this section we address frequently asked customer questions about access and storage location of customer data.

  • The data from all SEMYOU applications (APPS) are stored in a secure data center in Europe (Germany).
  • SEMYOU is entitled to transfer customer data to another location within Europe for data redundancy or other reasons. Large data sets are replicated between two regions with the same geographic space (Europe) to provide additional data resilience in the event of major disasters.
  • SEMYOU does not transfer customer data to locations outside Europe unless it is necessary for SEMYOU to provide customer support, troubleshoot a problem with the service, comply with legal requirements, or if the customer consents to such transfer.
  • Your data is stored encrypted in the SEMYOU data center and is only accessible to you.

2  EU Data Protection Directive

The EU Data Protection Directive (95/46/EC) contains strict requirements for the handling of personal data in the European Union. According to European law, our customer is the owner of its customer data and SEMYOU is the processor.

Customer data and other data types

  • Customer Data means any data provided by you or made available to us through your use of the Services, including any text, audio, software or image files. Customer Data includes, for example, files you upload to the Services for storage or processing and applications you or your end users upload to the Services for hosting. It does not include configuration or technical settings and information.
  • Administrator Data is information about administrators (including account contact and subscription administrators), such as name or address, phone number, and email address, provided during the process of setting up, purchasing, or managing the Services.
  • Metadata contains configuration and technical settings as well as information.
  • The websites on which SEMYOU offers the SEMYOU services are collectively referred to as the “SEMYOU APPS”.

What data is collected

SEMYOU collects various types of information in order to work effectively and provide you with the best products, services and highest security.

We collect information when you register and log in. No data is collected when you use the various SEMYOU apps.

4.1 Registration information

In order for the SEMYOU services to work, SEMYOU must collect and process certain personal data from you as your registration details when you register . This data is only available to SEMYOU and is not accessible to other users or passed on to third parties.

4.2 Payment data

If you use paid services from SEMYOU, SEMYOU collects and uses your payment data such as credit card or PayPal details for the purpose of payment processing and billing in accordance with the selected payment method.

If you choose the credit card payment method and pay with your MasterCard or Visa credit card (not American Express), the transaction will be processed by the authorized service provider PAYONE ® GmbH. If you choose the PayPal payment method, payments are processed directly by PayPal ®.

4.3 Traffic data

Traffic data is data that is collected, processed or used when providing a telecommunications service. SEMYOU or a third party that SEMYOU uses to provide telecommunications services collects traffic data in order to enable the use of these services and to be able to create the invoice for the respective user. As a rule, the date and time as well as the time zone of the start and end of use, the volume in bytes, the IP address and the type of teleservice used are recorded. The aforementioned data is stored for up to six months after the invoice is sent, unless longer storage is provided for as part of the statistics functions activated by the user. SEMYOU may use, store and transmit traffic data to the extent that billing with other companies or other service providers or legal regulations require it.

4.4 Changing, blocking and deleting data

You can change and delete data that you save in our services yourself. Backup copies in our backup systems are automatically deleted after a certain time delay.
After the contract has ended, we delete the data stored in the services.
Contract data is blocked after the contract has ended and deleted after the statutory retention period has expired.

5 Access to your personal data

The SEMYOU services offer you the ability to view or edit your personal information online. To prevent others from seeing your personal information, you must first log in. The process for accessing your personal information depends on the services used.

6 Website Tracking

The SEMYOU website sometimes uses so-called cookies. These are designed to make the service more user-friendly, effective and secure. Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer and saved by your browser, enabling an analysis of your use of the website. You can prevent the saving of this and the cookies listed below by setting your browser software accordingly; however, we would like to point out that in this case you may not be able to use all functions of this website to their full extent.

The SEMYOU website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses so-called “cookies”. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and saved there. IP anonymization is activated on this website, which means that your IP address is shortened beforehand by Google within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transferred to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide other services relating to website activity and internet usage to the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data.

SEMYOU-APPS

There is no website/cookie tracking for the SEMYOU applications (APPS). Only the SEMYOU website contains the services described above.

Security

Security is our top priority. We have taken extensive technical and organizational security measures to ensure the availability and security of your data. These are regularly checked and adapted to technological progress.

Data centers: Our data centers are certified by independent companies. This certification includes a systematic security concept as well as numerous security measures in the IT infrastructure itself, in the secondary technology and in the process chain. The security concept is based on defined standards and is regularly checked. Our security measures include data mirroring between data centers, battery-supported uninterruptible power supply, emergency diesel for up to four weeks of continuous autonomous operation, laser fire detectors and extinguishing gas, entry and access rules, obligations and training of employees as well as regular analyses of new security requirements.

Secure connection: All SEMYOU services can only be used via a secure connection. We provide an encrypted connection (SSL) for this purpose.

Support Data

Support Data is the data we collect when you submit a support request or perform automated troubleshooting, including information about hardware and software. We use this data to resolve your support request and for training purposes.
